CBCHS Cameroon Study Report is published!
The Role of Decentralized Local Authorities in the Accelerated Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action: A Case Study of Councils in the Northwest Region of Cameroon
Between June and August 2024, a ground-level study was carried out in Bamenda, Northwest Cameroon, to uncover how local councils navigate gender and disability inclusion in decentralized governance, with support from Humanity & Inclusion's Making It Work - Gender and Disability Project.
46 women - many of them living with disabilities - have been interviewed, as well and local leaders from Bamenda I, II, III and the City Council.
What emerged was a powerful call to action: despite Cameroon's commitment to the Beijing Platform for Action, women with disabilities remain marginalised - underscoring the urgent need for inclusive policies, leadership training and stronger protections.

The Beijing+30 African women with disabilities report is launched!
Discover, read, share and learn from 244 women and gender diverse persons with disabilities and 23 women-led organisations accross Africa.
The "Powerful yet overlooked: African women with disabilities and the ongoing struggle for inclusion, 30 years after Beijing" report, launched on the 24 October 2024, is available in French and English.
MIW, DIWA, WFD and IDA join forces for an Inclusive African review of Beijing+30
In 2025, the international community will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the endorsement of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 1995 - Beijing+30.
A comprehensive national review will be undertaken throughout 2024 in countries, led by Governements.
In parallel, the civil society organizations will join forces to reflect on progress and gaps in the 12 critical areas of the Beijing Platform for Action, in the last 5 years.
DIWA and MIW, lately joined by IDA (International Disability Alliance) and WFD (World Federation of the Deaf) have been engaging together to ensure the Beijing+30 review will be more inclusive than ever, opening to French and Portuguese speaking countries and paying attention to women with disabilities with intersecting identities.
We launched the "My voice from Africa" survey to collect the individual perspective of women with disabilities accross Africa in French, Portuguese, English and International Sign.

The Beijing+30 Parallel Report highlighting the perspectives of women with disabilities is published.

Parallel Reports from Benin, Togo published
Women-led organisations of persons with disabilities from Togo, Benin have yet shared their reports to input the National Country Report for the 30-year review of the Beijing Platform for Action.
